I'm willing to bet that at some point in your life, you had the feeling that you weren't doing what you "should" be doing. Whether because you've set some goals for yourself and you're not following them, or your attention has wandered far beyond where you expected.
I'm here to tell you to get RID of that shame or guilt.
When this happens, it's easy to beat up on yourself because you had a vision or a plan. But ultimately all that accomplishes is tearing yourself down. A more valuable use of your time would be to study it.
Ask yourself WHY. "Why did my attention turn to this activity? Why am I drawn to this instead of what I think I should be doing?" You may even want to consider what you're learning from this detour, and what it's doing for you at this point in time.
Are you learning new skills, or maybe just taking a rest? Is this your gut telling you to invest your time in something else?
Be thorough, and examine it from all angles! Because the thing about these detours is that they are learning moments. And I'd be willing to bet that your mind is in preparation mode. It might be preparing for something even bigger and better than what you were doing, and certainly something that feels more "right."
Take this time for what it is--a learning period--and allow yourself to prepare.
